DOWN SYNDROME

Special need children, maybe this terminology is not weird in your mind. Yes nowadays many children appertain as special need children. Special need children are children who have obstacle in learning or expansion. One of the illnesses is called Down syndrome or syndrome down. This suffers part of brain and some of tissue. Many factor that make it happened as age of mother or the air around the mother live. They need right handling to help them to blend with society.

Down syndrome is disorder that impact to backwardness, growth of body, and mental. This happened because deviation of genetic that occur in chromosome 21^nd. This chromosome should be cleaving into three but in DS children it just two. Characteristic physics of DS are small chin, skin brighter than other, the face like Mongolia, tongue is longer than others and the sky of mouth is deep, construction of their appearance is not balance like the head too big or the opposite.

DS children are usually having difficulties in study, coordination of movement always uncontrolled. Many ways can we get to help children like this. Now many school launch to help DS children. SLB ( sekolah luar biasa ) or the most popular now is inclusive school can help them. In there they can get study and also therapy that make them more understand to do whatever they want to do by themselves.  Therapy which is given is occupational therapy. This is to help DS children in sensomotoric aspect, it built the ability to life day by day. Sensory Integrasi, speaking therapy and academic therapy will be conducted to DS children.

As parents you can decrease to get children with DS. Don’t pregnant when your age up in 40, check your womb if your first child DS. Avoid the area with much pollution and chemical. Inspection n the beginning will decrease it.

Finally don’t disappoint if you have children with DS. Many ways we can get to solve this problem.

One of mother who have children with Down Syndrom said that we have to be proud if we are chosen by God to have children with DS, because God want us more patient and do you know that children with DS more love their parents than normal children. They can always make us laugh. They make one tear to be a thousand laughs.

We as society may not judge somebody who has children with DS, we have to help them or support what they do. Don’t think that they are crazy, but feels if you are being them. God is fair. He gives excess behind their shortage.
